Web Design

Project Brief

Boyce Thompson Arboretum was in need of a website redesign. One of their priorities with the new site was to appeal to a larger audience, specifically young adults and families.

To achieve this, my strategy was to create a more visually engaging website. I felt the design needed to feature more photography, a bolder use of color, and establish a more interactive and user friendly design.

Style Tiles

In order to determine a design direction, I created 3 different style tiles that allowed the client to envision different aesthetics for the new website. Each tile featured a different color palette, typography, and creative design elements including photo treatments or button styles.

Homepage Design

For the homepage design, I built an interactive prototype using Adobe XD. The prototype was presented to the client and later used to guide the full site’s design and inform developers through the build process.

Interior Pages

With the homepage design finalized, the next phase included the design of the website’s interior pages. Boyce Thompson Arboretum required creative solutions to display a large amount of information throughout the site.

Pages In Context

Using a flexible layout, dynamic elements, and incorporating more imagery in the design helped to give the arboretum’s website the modern aesthetic they were aiming for.
